Responsible play

Lottery is entertainment — keep it that way.

18+

Lottery and gambling products are strictly for adults aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, please leave this site.

Play within your means

Lottery is a form of entertainment — the odds are always with the house. Treat the cost of a ticket as the price of that entertainment, not as an investment with an expected return. Never spend money you cannot afford to lose, and never use funds set aside for bills, rent, food or savings.

Recognising problem gambling

Problem gambling can affect anyone. Common warning signs include:

  • Spending more than you planned, or more than you can afford
  • Chasing losses — playing again to try to win back money you've lost
  • Hiding your gambling from family or friends
  • Feeling anxious, irritable or depressed when not gambling
  • Borrowing money or selling possessions to fund gambling
  • Gambling affecting your work, studies or relationships

If you recognise any of these signs in yourself or someone you care about, please seek help — there is no shame in doing so.

Self-help tools

  • Set a budget — decide how much you're comfortable spending per week before you play, and stick to it.
  • Set a time limit — decide how long you'll play for and stop when the time is up.
  • Take breaks — step away and do something else, especially if you're on a losing streak.
  • Don't chase losses — if you've lost your budget for the day, stop. The draw is random; playing more won't change your luck.
  • Talk to someone — if you're worried about your gambling, speak to a trusted friend, family member or counsellor.
